How to Make a Yarn Reindeer Wreath – Step by Step Tutorial

This reindeer wreath is so easy to make with just a wreath form and a skein of yarn, plus a festive ornament nose and sparkly red antlers.

Supplies

*You can also use a foam wreath form, make your own cardboard wreath form, or skip the yarn and use a grapevine wreath form.

For regular-nosed reindeers like Prancer and Vixen, swap the red nose ornament for an ornament painted brown or black or a jumbo jingle bell, and use brown felt antlers instead of the red antler headband.

Step 1: Secure the Loop Yarn

Begin by securing the end of the brown loop yarn around the outer wire of the wreath form. Make a tight knot to ensure it’s secure. You can add a dab of hot glue to help hold the knot in place as well.

Step 2: Wrap the Wreath Form

Wrap the yarn around the entire wreath form. Keep it tight as you go to create a full and fluffy wreath. The deep taupe yarn gives it a reindeer-like appearance.

Step 3: Add the Ornament Nose

Once you’ve wrapped the entire wreath form, it’s time to add the reindeer’s nose.

Remove the top piece (the silver part) from the large red ornament. Apply hot glue to the wreath form and the top of the ornament, and carefully press it onto the yarn-wrapped wreath form.

Hold it in place for about 30 seconds to ensure it’s secure. Adjust the yarn around the nose to cover the glue and ornament top completely.

Step 4: Add the Reindeer Antlers

For the reindeer’s antlers, carefully remove the red sequin antlers from the headband. Gently bend the antlers.

Apply hot glue to the wire wreath form and to the bottom section of each antler on both the front and back.

Press them onto the yarn-wrapped wreath form where you want the antlers to be. Hold each antler in place for about 30 seconds to ensure they adhere securely.
