6 Tips to Design a Glamorous Gray Kitchen

1. Paint Your Cabinets Gray

Gray kitchen cabinets continue to be a popular choice for DIY enthusiasts and professional interior designers alike. They can create a dramatic look for your kitchen.

How do you choose the right GRAY paint?

First Consider Tone:

Tone is when you add pure grey to a color. This means that most gray paints you choose, will have an underlying color. You need to determine what that color is, and if that undertone is a Cool Gray, Warm Gray or just a True Gray, to really understand the color you are choosing.

What is the Visual Temperature of the Gray Paint?

Cool Grays:

A cool gray is a mixture of black, white, (true gray) and adding a touch of blue or purple. This gives the color either a strong blue undertone or a subtle blue undertone, depending on saturation. These colors are crisp and modern, they appear bright.

Warm Grays:

A warm gray is a mixture of black, white (true gray) and adding a touch of red, yellow or beige. These colors are cozy and have a soothing feeling. They reach more of the color wheel because of the options of undertones, so be sure you match or compliment your decor when picking the undertone here.

True Gray

A true gray is a mixture of just black and white with no additional colors added.

If you simply cannot figure out the undertone of the paint you are choosing, talk to your local paint mixer. They can tell you what colors are being added to make the paint. This might help you decide.

Choosing Your Gray Paint Color

Grab some gray stick samples to take home and check in the light of the room you are painting. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a few colors, I highly recommend using a Samplize peel and stick paint sample. They are super affordable and wont ruin your wall if you need to try out a few colors, there is NO mess and no clean up required. 3. Create a Backsplash Accent

4. Anchor the Space with a White Kitchen Island

5. Choose Sophisticated Metal Bar Stools

The chrome barstools in this gray kitchen echo the stainless steel appliances found throughout and the cool gray paint color of the kitchen cabinets.
