How are you guys, hope you’re doing well. If you haven’t heard of me before, my name is Bettina (Betty) and I’m the writer/DIYer behind Oh Everything Handmade. So, today I’ll be sharing a quick tutorial for my Small Apartment Coffee Bar Sign – with organizing hooks. This wooden sign came to life while I was brainstorming for a DIY to organize a coffee bar/station, to help along those of you that want a coffee bar BUT really don’t have much space for it!

So, today I’ll be sharing a quick tutorial for my Small Apartment Coffee Bar Sign – with organizing hooks. This wooden sign came to life while I was brainstorming for a DIY to organize a coffee bar/station, which was intended to help along those of you that want a coffee bar BUT really don’t have much space for it!

I recently added a coffee bar to my own apartment and love it.

Painting the surface

Before I started painting the plywood, I made sure it had no splinters sticking up or rough spots. You can use a 200 grit sand paper to remove any imperfections.

Clean the surface with a damp towel and let it dry off for a minute while you mix the milk paint. There are a few different milk paint retailers on the web, but my current favorite is the Miss Mustard seed’s milk paint.

I used 3 coats of the Ironstone Milk paint powder/water mixture for this project. And gave it a quick sanding with a 220 grit sandpaper once everything was dry.

Cutting the vinyl

To cut the vinyl you can use a Silhouette or Cricut, you can find this projects downloadable template at the bottom.

Adjust the size to fit your projects width and length and start cutting.

How to assemble?

I transferred the cut-out vinyl onto transfer paper and transfer the banner and quote to the painted plywood. Then I took some measurements and marked the board where the writing was being placed.

Add Hooks

To make this wooden sign affordable and to organize cups and condiments, I used Dollar store/Daiso finds like; hooks & a wire basket. These hooks came with screws and were easy to attach.

Make the frame

To make the frame, I measured the plywood and cut the frame board to fit around the sign. Then I sanded the edges to remove any splinters, and stained the boards. Once they dried, I glued the frame to the sign and nailed them in place. You can use clamps to avoid the boards from sliding abound.
